winter break: time to make personal art
Updated: Apr 20, 2020

it seems like if you are in an art program in college, you should be making cool art you really enjoy creating. but i find so much more inspiration to create music, paint, and write when i don't have 5 art projects due every two weeks. i haven't written a song or painted since summer break, i barely touch my keyboard or my embroidery during the semester, and i rarely casually read when i have projects looming over my head. it has been months since i didn't feel guilty spending my time finding new music, learning new recipes, or using my camera for something other than graded assignments. i find pockets here and there but i always feel a little guilty and sneaky when i draw for fun when my projects are sitting unfinished on my desk. anyways, i am excited to be able to feel relaxed when i create this winter. side note: this illustration was done in the online application sketch.io which is free and i use as an alternative to adobe illustrator when my laptop takes too long to load illustrator. it is free and easy to use, you can do almost everything you can do in illustrator.
